New, Freestanding ER in Buena Vista
We can prepare for many situations in life, but that doesn’t mean we can plan for everything—like kitchen mishaps, sudden abdominal pain or broken bones. That’s why Laredo Medical Center is here to support you when unexpected situations arise.
In 2025, our health system’s emergency departments cared for nearly 55,000 patients, making us a leading provider of emergency services in the region. And now we can help even more.
The 11,206-square-foot, freestanding ER in Buena Vista, located at 4019 Cuatro Vientos Road, opened July 1. It’s designed to provide prompt 24/7 emergency care and reduce wait times during critical situations.
“This is about more than opening a new building—it’s about expanding access to lifesaving emergency care for the people and businesses of southeast Laredo and surrounding communities in Rio Bravo, El Cenizo, Zapata and Hebbronville,” says Jorge Leal, FACHE, CEO at Laredo Medical Center. “As our community continues to grow, we are committed to providing families timely access to high-quality ER care backed by the full resources of Laredo Medical Center.”
This new ER provides southeast Laredo and the surrounding areas with:
- Wide-ranging neurological support. We connect patients with specialists for timely evaluation and treatment of strokes, epilepsy, severe headaches and other neurological conditions. The service helps reduce the need to transfer patients to other facilities.
- An experienced emergency team. You’re in good hands with us. The team includes board-certified emergency physicians and highly skilled clinicians dedicated to providing safe, compassionate emergency care.
- On-site diagnostics. We provide X-rays, imaging and lab tests so our emergency department team can quickly get answers to treat you sooner.
- Specialized, private rooms. The ER features eight exam rooms and three triage bays, so you have a private, comfortable space while our care team assesses and treats your needs.
- Trauma care. We have a dedicated trauma room designed to stabilize patients with serious injuries. This allows us to provide life-saving treatments, including emergency blood transfusions, quickly.
“Every aspect of this emergency department was designed with patient care, safety and efficiency in mind,” Leal says. “Whether someone is experiencing a traumatic injury, a serious medical condition, or a behavioral health crisis, this facility is equipped to provide rapid assessment, advanced treatment and compassionate care close to home.”
While we hope you don’t need emergency care anytime soon, we are ready when the unexpected occurs.
