Turkey Creek Doubles Size of ER
We can prepare for many situations in life, but that doesn’t mean we can plan for everything—like kitchen mishaps, sudden abdominal pain or broken bones.
That’s why Tennova – Turkey Creek Medical Center is here to support you when unexpected situations arise. In 2025, we cared for more than 22,000 patients in our ER – and now we can help even more.
Our $3 million ER renovation added eight new trauma-ready treatment rooms, and patient capacity expanded from 12 rooms to 20, allowing us to provide care more effectively and improve the patient experience.
“Expanding our ER is an important step to continue meeting the needs of our growing community,” says Tony Benton, CEO at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center. “With patients in mind, we considered many factors, including simplified registration, an expanded waiting area, and improved patient throughput. Our focus is on providing timely access to care, enhancing the patient experience and supporting our physicians and clinical teams with the resources needed to deliver high-quality emergency services.”
The physical expansion, along with the addition of 15 new clinical team members, helps Tennova – Turkey Creek Medical Center stand by our 30-minutes-or-less ER service pledge. Every second counts in emergencies, and our expansions help us deliver fast, high-quality care where you need it most – our ER.
“The emergency department is a critical access point for patients experiencing serious illness and injury,” says John Pope, M.D., ER medical director. “Our physicians and other clinicians had a significant voice in planning this project, enhancing our trauma capabilities and equipping our team to deliver the right level of care when every second matters.”
While we hope you don’t need emergency care anytime soon, we are ready when the unexpected occurs.
